Have you ever heard of Facebook Global Digital Challenge (FGDC)?

The great campaign from the largest social media platform, Facebook

This social networking platform invites students around the world to show the public that social media can be a positive media that provides many advantages if used wisely.

One of Indonesia College is selected to participate in this joint venture program with EdVenture Partners is Undiknas University, Denpasar. Five of Undiknas students who passed the selection at the registration stage are selected as program participant , the participants are; Sean Conti from Business Management Study, Deviyanti Putri and Upayana Wiguna from Accounting Study, Faculty of Economics and Business. There is Pipin Carolina from the Law Science Study, Faculty of Law and Maria Pankratia from the Communication Science Study, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

This activity begins with a selection phase since January 2017 and will end with submission of activity reports by June 2017. Participants are required to submit essays explaining their motivation to engage in this activity.

All five were selected after going through a tight selection process from the EdVenture Partners. In February 2017, this team began to work. Together, with Luh Putu Mahyuni, Ph. D., CA, as the Director of Academic/Dean of Economics and Business Faculty and Ida Nyoman Basmantra, MPD as the Team Manager who is also the Head of International Office, Undiknas Denpasar. The team discussed the major themes, what should be raised in this campaign.

Seeing the situation of the Nation and the State of Indonesia which began to be attacked various kinds of radicalism issues, in the end an idea about #BreakTheSilence emerged. A campaign targeting the silence majority, people who have had enough insight and understand the situation but prefer to be silence.

As there is a phrase that says, "In a war situation, when you are impartial to anyone, you are actually supporting the ruling party." This campaign seeks to invite more people to care and determine the attitude so that no more narrow-minded people that take this opportunity to destroy everything that has been painfully built by the predecessors.

Following up on this idea, several concept activities are designed. There are visits to the orphanage, photo competition and video storytelling, making video testimonials and social experiment and film production.

There is also a Seminar titled "Pluralism in Relation to Social Media." The seminar was held on May 29, 2017, attended by 234 Students of Undiknas Denpasar and involving 30 people as committee to working together and organize the activities.

The #BreakTheSilence seminar discusses "How to interpret Diversity and speak wisely through the existing Social Media so that it has a great impact on the whole world."

Present as Speakers, there is Dea Rangga, celebgram; Yoga Arsana and Sugi Suartanaya , the Youtubers; And Anton Muhajir, Editor, Journalist and Blogger. the four speakers and the Facebook Team Global Digital Challenge share experiences and suggestions about how to use social media in the midst of the current excessive information flow.

Through this seminar, it is expected that more and more students are inspired to use the internet and social media wisely; also not negligent to forward this good message to the people they meet in their neighborhood.
